A WELCOME TO OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL FROM THE FACULTY
The middle school years are a special time in the lives of our children. They are a time of transition in which students rapidly change intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially. The goal of Cranston-Johnston Catholic Regional School is to offer a balanced, comprehensive and success oriented curriculum. The middle school is a sensitive, caring, and supportive learning environment that provides an academic program aimed at making the transition from late childhood to adolescence easier thereby helping children as they move from the self-contained structure of the lower school to the departmental structure of the high school setting.
The middle school curriculum is more exploratory than the lower school and less specialized than high school. The academic program of the middle school emphasizes skills development through language arts (both literature and language), math, science, social studies, and religion. A well defined skills sequence is also found in physical education, health, athletics and other educational activities.
Students are encouraged to participate in a number of co-curricular activities designed to interest and advance the student.
In short, the middle school at Cranston-Johnston Catholic Regional School provides a balanced program that focuses on individual student development allowing us the live by our mission statement to develop each child’s unique skills and abilities. Ours is a comprehensive curriculum that addresses all important aspects of growth; a balance between the social, emotional, physical, intellectual and, mot importantly, spiritual dimensions of the curriculum leading to the promise of success for everyone.
All of this is accomplished through the prism of the Catholic faith, which is the core value that weaves all learning together in and through the presence and action of God in our world today.
